Two Pee Dee women have been arrested in connection with separate neglect cases.

A Palmetto Pee Dee Behavior Health employee was arrested Thursday after investigators said she fractured a patient’s arm, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.

Rhonda Brown, 36, of 3642 Hotel St. in Alcolu is charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.

Police had been investigating the suspect since June 25, when she was accused of physically assaulting an 11-year-old girl who is a patient at the center.

Investigators said the suspect was employed at the center when she fractured the girl’s arm.

The Gregg Avenue facility treats children and adolescents with behavioral health issues.

It’s not clear if Brown is still employed at the facility. She was released Thursday from the jail in Effingham after posting bail.

That same day, Darlington County sheriff’s deputies served warrants on a Timmonsville woman they say was exposing children living in her house to crack cocaine, cocaine and other drugs.

Jacqueline Cassandra Waiters, 36, of 1874 Weaver St. is charged with unlawful neglect by a legal custodian, Darlington County Detention Center booking reports show.

Deputies executed a search warrant at her home June 12 and discovered 8 grams of crack cocaine, about 6 grams of powered cocaine, and about 24 grams of marijuana at the home, Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd said in an earlier report.

Waiters, along with 33-year-old Loranzo Lashan Zimmerman, were arrested at the scene and charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Waiters was released Thursday from the Darlington jail after posting bail on the neglect charge.
