2 Olanta men face drug charges

Two Olanta men were arrested on drug charges in an Olanta-area service station parking lot, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.

Derrick Lamont Singletary, 28, of 4808 Woods Bay Road, is charged with first-offense possession of less than one gram of ice, crank or crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine, while Michael Jackson, 25, of 4904 Woods Bay Road, is charged with distribution of crack cocaine, Camp said.

While deputies were serving an warrant on Singletary for the distribution charge in an incident on North Jones Road in Olanta, Camp said, they found crack cocaine in his possession.

Both men were arrested Wednesday night and released from the jail in Effingham on Thursday. Bond information wasn’t available.
