16 people arrested on drug-related charges in Marion County

Sixteen people were arrested in June by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after extensive investigations were made into the illegal drug trade in the county.

“The (Marion County Combined) Drug Unit is working hard in its efforts to control the illegal drug trade in Marion County,” Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson said in a press release issued Thursday.

Those arrested were:

  • Tyronne Beaty, 34, of Murrells Inlet, trafficking cocaine base-third offense, trafficking cocaine-third offense, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near school and simple possession of marijuana.
  • Subhash Chander, 49, of New York, sale of beer to minor-first offense.
  • William Leo Cook, 48, of Gresham, distribution of a controlled substance-first offense, distribution of controlled substance near a school, unlawful carrying of a pistol, unlawful purchase of oxycodone.
  • William Leo Cook Jr., 21, of Gresham, distribution of a controlled substance-first offense, distribution of controlled substance near a school and unlawful carrying of a pistol.
  • Silvia Crawford, 31, of Gresham, intimidation of a witness.
  • Marcus David Dewitt, 27, of Myrtle Beach, trafficking cocaine base-first offense, trafficking cocaine-first offense, two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substance near school, possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute controlled substance near school and simple possession of marijuana.
  • Jimmy Dennis Dix, 26, of Marion, distribution of marijuana and intimidation of a witness.
  • Al Salador Eaddy, 26, of Gresham, distribution of an imitation substance.
  • Maria Estes, 40, of Mullins, prostitution and possession of cocaine base.
  • James Earl Gowins, 21, of Marion, trafficking cocaine base-first offense, trafficking cocaine-first offense, two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substance near school and simple possession of marijuana.
  • Johnnie Jean Gowins, 44, of Marion, distribution of a controlled substance, distribution controlled substance near a school and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
  • Steven Christopher Howard, 19, of Marion, distribution of a controlled substance, distribution controlled substance near a school and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
  • Roshawn Phillips, 27, of Latta, conspiracy to distribute cocaine base.
  • Jackie L. Sellers, 27, of Latta, distribution of cocaine base-third offense, possession with intent to distribute cocaine base-third offense, conspiracy to distribute cocaine base and driving under suspension.
  • Christopher Q. Singleton, 29, of Conway, trafficking cocaine base-first offense, trafficking cocaine-first offense, two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substance near school, possession of a controlled substance and simple possession of marijuana.
  • Phillip Lloyd Wilson, 27, of Marion, distribution marijuana-second offense, distribution cocaine base-second offense, two counts of distribution controlled substance near a school, failure to stop for a blue light, providing false information to a police officer, littering, malicious damage to property, resisting arrest, simple possession of marijuana, violation of beginner’s permit, operating an uninsured vehicle and seat belt violation. Richardson said he asks county residents to report any suspicious activity to the combined drug unit at (843) 423-2056. Callers need not reveal their identities.
