Horry County Police charged 65-year-old Dock Edward Gasque of Aynor and 53-year-old Johnny Earl Alford in connection to a shooting that sent a man to the hospital last Wednesday.

Investigators said Gasque shot at Kelly Michael Rabon several times before one of the bullets hit Rabon in the side of his body.

The shooting happened at Gasque’s Hucks Road home Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said the shooting happened without “any circumstance of justification in that the victim remained a considerable distance from the defendant throughout the incident, and presented no means of impending peril to the defendant,” according to the arrest warrant.

Gasque faces one charge of assault and battery with intent to kill.

Investigators charged Alford with accessory after the fact to a felony because Alford gave Gasque the gun used to shoot Rabon, then left the scene with the gun following the shooting, according to the warrant.

Medics rushed Rabon to the Conway Hospital and performed emergency surgery on the gunshot wound, according to police.

Rabon was in good condition Tuesday morning, according to a county police release.

Both men were arrested and charged Monday and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

A county magistrate set Gasque’s bond at $25,000 and $15,000 on Alford for the accessory charge.
