The Convention Center was packed Tuesday night, and by 7:00 p.m. the attendance was over 7,700 as locals and visitors indulged in tasty tidbits from over 50 restaurants at this year’s 26th Annual Taste of the Town.  The early crowd enjoyed performances by tribute artists from Dino’s TV Variety Show, and later in the evening, everyone was grooving to the tunes of the popular band Soul Function.

During this highly acclaimed event, which benefits St. Andrew Catholic School, the restaurants vied for culinary bragging rights as they competed for judged awards in the categories of Best Entrée, Best Dessert, and Best Booth Design. Awards were also given for People’s Choice and Kid’s Choice, in which attendees were polled at random to vote for their Favorite Entrée and Favorite Dessert.  The 2nd annual Community Crusader Award was also presented to one shining individual.  Several of the event’s participating restaurants submitted nominations for this honorable award, which recognizes a person who works within the restaurant industry, is committed to serving the community, and exudes outstanding qualities of living a life of service beyond self.

Taste of the Town is proudly presented by St. Andrew Catholic School, and this year’s event was sponsored by HTC Communications, McDonald’s, and WBTW News13.
