Swim advisory issued for part of Surfside Beach

A swimming advisory has been issued for a section of Surfside Beach.

According to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, the affected area includes 200 feet above and below the beach access at Third Avenue North.

High bacteria levels have been detected in this section of the beach, and swimming is not advised until bacteria levels return to normal.

This section of Surfside Beach is surrounded by other sections of beach that are permanently under advisory.
