The South Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting a public hearing Thursday on the Glenns Bay Road widening and interchange project.

Residents will have a chance to review the plans to widen Glenns Bay Road to five lanes from U.S. 17 to Spanish Oak Drive, widen the road to a four lance section from Spanish Oak Drive to Kessinger Drive and a three lane section from Kessinger Drive to U.S. 17 Business.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting a public hearing Thursday on the Glenns Bay Road widening and interchange project.
According to a press release from SCDOT, the hearing is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. James High School Cafeteria, 10800 Highway 707, Murrells Inlet.
Residents will have a chance to review the plans to widen Glenns Bay Road to five lanes from U.S. 17 to Spanish Oak Drive, widen the road to a four lance section from Spanish Oak Drive to Kessinger Drive and a three lane section from Kessinger Drive to U.S. 17 Business.
The project is funded by the Horry County’s Ride II penny sales tax program.
Displays will be set up around the room, at 6 p.m. there will be a brief formal presentation, followed by a comment period. Verbal comments are limited to two minutes each.
People who wish to comment will have to sign up between 5 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. as they enter the hearing.
A copy of the Environmental Assessment is available to public review at the Surfside Beach Library, 410 Surfside Drive.
