Red Cross responds to Loris home fire

Disaster Action Team members of the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted a Loris family who lost their home to fire on Monday, said a press release.
This brought to four the number of fire families in Horry County that the Red Cross assisted since the weekend, The fire at 1289 Blue Moon Drive in Loris displaced three adults and one child.
Already this fiscal year, the local Red Cross has assisted 140 people who have been victims of 39 home fires. Of those individuals, 53 have been children. The chapter serves clients in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
The Red Cross provides for the immediate emergency needs of disaster victims, which includes lodging, meals and clothing. In addition, the Red Cross can provide mental health crisis counseling to those in need, as well as assistance in developing a recovery plan to get the family back to pre-disaster conditions as quickly as possible.
