Police report results of traffic safety checkpoint

Myrtle Beach police say they issued more than three dozen tickets Wednesday night as part of a New Year’s Eve traffic safety checkpoint.

Officers stopped a total of 586 drivers between 8-10 p.m. on 21st Avenue North, between Robert Grissom Parkway and Oak Street.

Here are the results, according to Traffic Division Supervisor Sgt. John Bertang:

Driver’s License Violations: 7

Vehicle License Violations: 9

Equipment Violations:  4

Driving Under Suspension: 1

Illegal Alcohol Cases: 1

Illegal Drug Cases: 1

Other Moving Violations: 5

No Proof Of Insurance: 11

Total Citations Issued: 39

Total Arrests: 5

Total Vehicles Towed: 5
