MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina police expect a smaller crowd at a Myrtle Beach area bike rally beginning this week.
The Pilgrimage is expected to draw between 10,000 and 20,000 people.
That’s far less than the two spring bike rallies in the area and down from the 40,000 people the fall rally attracted at its peak.
Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler says additional officers will be posted in areas were large crowds are expected.
Crowds at Myrtle Beach area bike rallies have been shrinking since local officials passed several new laws aimed at keeping bikers out.
The laws included banning parking lot gatherings, loud mufflers and riding without helmets.
The Pilgrimage begins Wednesday.
