Police arrest third suspect in Myrtle Beach grocery store robbery

CONWAY – Horry County Police officials have arrested one suspect in connection to the robbery of a Mexican grocery store in early June.

Akiem Cooper, 19, of Myrtle Beach, has been charged with armed robbery and kidnapping in connection with the June 8 incident at La Tienda Viva Mexico in Myrtle Beach, according to a release from the Horry County Police Department.

Cooper is the third of five suspects to be taken into custody, according to the release.

Cooper was arrested after a brief foot chase about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday on Marshfield Circle in Myrtle Beach following an anonymous tip, according to the release.

Previously arrested in the investigation were Deandre Bishop and Irene Oviedo, according to the release.

Investigators are still seeking the identity of the other two suspects in the incident, according to the release.
