Pedestrian struck, killed on U.S. 17 Business in Murrells Inlet

MURRELLS INLET—Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says a woman died Monday night from injuries she sustained after being hit by a SUV on U.S. 17 Business in Murrells Inlet.

Edge says it happened shortly after 10 p.m. near the intersection of Stanley Drive, just north of the entrance to Inlet Square Mall.

Edge says the victim, 35 year old Michelle Lee McCormick of Murrells Inlet, was taken to Waccamaw Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead at 10:35 p.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.

Edge says the person driving the Chevrolet SUV that struck the woman stopped after the accident.
