One dead after car strikes pedestrian in Georgetown County

A Pawleys Island woman is dead after being struck by a drunk driver Thursday night near Debidue, according to Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins said the vehicle was traveling south bound on Highway 17 then struck a disabled car and a pedestrian when the driver drove off the right hand side of the road.  The accident occured around 7:15 p.m.

The victim has been identified as 46 year old Rosa Johnson of Pawleys Island.

Johnson was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m. at Georgetown Hospital.

No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.

No charges have been filed YET. People give them a chance to fully investigate the accident, i’m sure they will file the appropriate charges when they’re done. It takes a little time it’s not automatic.

My only question is why the drunk driver isn’t identified.

Me too. [the no charges part]. The drunk driver is surely being held in the tank. Probably just a poor choice of words.

Struck by a drunk driver and no charges?  I seriously doubt that.
