A surprise announcement opened the Harold Swanner Entrepreneur Center at Horry-Georgetown Tech’s Grand Strand campus Tuesday morning.

Swanner, who started a real estate school along the Grand Strand years ago that eventually reached technical colleges statewide, was on hand, along with members of his family and some of his colleagues.

The Conway Chamber Of Commerce, which for nearly a year has partnered with the Service Corps Of Retired Executives, or SCORE, to help develop small businesses in the community, helped put on the event.

Tony Hurst, president of Business Resource Group, says the Entrepreneur Center will continue what Swanner and others started.

“Any small business ower or anyone wanting to get into small business can contact us,“ Hurst said. “We can direct them in the proper way.“
