The Claire Chapin Epps YMCA opened the first week of October, but it celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.

Many city leaders and YMCA workers were at the ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony.

Some of the speakers at the ceremony included Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes, Ira Reasons from the YUSA, and Claude Epps on behalf of the Chapin Foundation.

It took place at the facility at 5:00 p.m. After the ceremony, there was a guided tour and a reception.

The Claire Chapin Epps YMCA is located at 5000 Claire Chapin Epps Drive.

It cost $7.5 million to complete and offers dozens of activities and programs including leagues, tournaments, an indoor track and a swimming pool, sauna, fitness facility, basketball and many other sports.

For more information on the facility and memberships, call the YMCA at (843) 449-9622 (YMCA).
