Air travelers in the Eastern Carolinas have a new option for flying to the nation’s capital.

Trans States Airlines, a regional carrier that operates under United Express, started two daily round-trip flights between Myrtle Beach and Washington Dulles on March 29 and plans to continue the service indefinitely, according to a press release issued Thursday.

Trans States will service the route with 50-passenger Embraer 145 Regional Jets.

“We are excited about bringing non-stop jet service from Myrtle Beach to our nation’s capital, as well as providing connections throughout the world via United Airline’s major hub in Washington-Dulles,” said Fred Oxley, Vice President of Scheduling with Trans States Airlines/United Express.

“We are thrilled to again welcome the United Airlines system to MYR,” said Horry County Department of Airports Director Bob Kemp. “Trans States’ United Express service to Washington is a great opportunity for vacationers and golfers to come to Myrtle Beach but also provides key service to a significant business location for the community. Grand Strand business travelers now have quick access to the Washington Metro area as well.”
