Firefighters fought flames at a Murrells Inlet apartment complex Tuesday evening.
Chief Norman Knight with Murrells Inlet-Garden City fire district says the call came in at 4:40, when a fire started on Wacheshaw Road.
There were reports of heavy fire in the rear of two apartments at Wachesaw Place, but firefighters were able to control the fire and put it out fairly quickly.
Chief Knight said the fire was most likely caused by a moped catching fire near the structure.
Angela Nicholas, Chief Executive Officer with the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross said the Red Cross is providing financial assistance to help meet the immediate emergency needs of the families affected.
Midway Fire-Rescue, as well as firefighters from Surfside Beach and Horry County, also helped control the situation
