There are more changes on the board of the Horry County Humane Society.

Wednesday night, the board elected a new treasurer and a new secretary.

The Society had vacancies after resignations followed a highly-publicized distemper outbreak last month at the Conway shelter.

Board president Kate Philips also said clean-up at the shelter continues.

Philips said, “We have gotten the resealing of the floors completed in kennel A in the euthanasia area, they’re still working on kennel B in the cat room, but those should be complete soon, the weather’s been a little wet, so the drying steps take longer.“

Philips also said interviews will soon start for a new Executive Director and Director of Operations.  She said they’ve received more than 450 applications.

Also at the meeting, board members finalized plans for a Valentine’s Day fundraiser.  The ‘Purrfect Match Valentine’s Party and Dance’ will be held at the historic Myrtle Beach Train Depot, Saturday, February 14.  The $15 dollar tickets include beer, wine, hors d oeuvres, soft drinks, and a 50/50 raffle.
