Though the idea to bring back Atlantic Beach’s bike fest this the fall has not been made official a few biker associations are already working on getting out the word.

“It’s going to happen. I think it would be very important for the economy of both North and Atlantic Beach,” said John Glover, president of The Carolina Knight Riders.

Glover wasn’t he only one who supported the idea, bikers and local promoters Violet Lucas and Mac Vereen said that they are doing their best to get out the word by emailing, calling and texting local and out of state bikers.

“First us being local bikers, we will push for it to try to be a success in it because I think it will work for the city of Atlantic Beach,“ said Mac Vereen, president of Sportsman Motorcycle Club and Horry-Georgetown Biker Association.

“The fact that they are sending out an opened arm welcome invitation to the bikers is definitely a good look for them and it is definitely going to help their economic growth as well,“ said Violet Lucas business advisor for Horry-Georgetown Biker Association.

Last week Atlantic Beach town councilman proposed the event and mayor pro-tem Charlene Taylor said that she supports the idea if it will bring the town more money.

Town manager William Booker has been asked to research the idea and report to the council next month.

No dates however have been proposed.

I forgot to mention that the constant police harassment and other Rhodes tactics will not work on these people. With the NAACP watching over everyone they will not be able to run this group of tourist out of town. This group is used to police harassment and they will stand their ground. They will not just run away and pout about it like the Harley posers did. With lowered room rates there is not reason that this will not happen.

This is even better than I had imagined. I said that when Myrtle Beach ran off the Harley people that the A.B. bikers would take over the whole month of May but I never thought about A.B. in the fall. This is a great idea and I am sure the little old Grey hem Gremlins of Myrtle Beach will appreciate the humor in all of this especially when they understand that everyone will be taking advantage of the really low room rental rates in Myrtle Beach. The younger people can now afford to stay in downtown Myrtle Beach and it is so cheap that they can do it more than once a year. So now the spring and fall off seasons can belong to the A.B. crowds. Life is good for all but the Gremlins.

This should be good news for a certain seafood joint located on SR9 on the Waccamaw river. closed tight with barrels and tape for the harley events, wide open for the BBW event. One might conclude management acted out of fear of the lawsuits by NAACP. Or maybe malice for the harley haven just over the river? Whatever the reason, you may be sure this business lost future customers from the local area. Move it to Myrtle Beach.

I think it is a wonderful idea and could really give Atlantic Beach a real boost to there city. It has the potential to grow into a big event since there is not another sport bike event in the fall. I could be promoted in Bike magazines and get on the calendar early so they have time to prepare for vendors and events. If planned for now there will be adequate time to make it a success. I wish them a great success and hopefully it will be as large or larger than the Memorial Day event.
