People should definitely not bash an agency when they don’t know how it operates. DSS is a state ageny and must run by state laws. Let me explain a little bit about it to you. By state law, you DO NOT have to even let DSS in your home! You can’t prove in court that a child is being abused or neglected if you can’t even get in the home.
And just for your information, HCPD could not get a search warrant until DSS got involved with the family. DSS supplied HCPD with the information necessary to get a search warrant and make the bust.
For future reference, if you don’t know all the facts, you should not say anything at all!
What amazes me more than anything about this case is that I know for a fact DSS was notified about this couple 2 years ago by more than one person. DSS was told the couple was involved in drugs, had issues feeding their 2 children, had utilities turned off several times, etc….WOW guys, way to go!!! The kids could have been helped a long time ago!
