CONWAY - Horry County Police have charged a Conway man in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store last Friday.

According to a news release, it happened around 2:30 p.m. at the Quick Shop convenience store, 5100 Cates Bay Highway in the Conway section of Horry County.

The clerk told officers a man brandishing a butcher knife entered the store, and demanded money from the register.

The suspect then fled on foot into some nearby woods, but police arrested him a short time later.

Police say Joel Michael Brinkley, 29, is charged with armed robbery and was awaiting a bond hearing Monday at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.
