In the first meeting of an ad hoc committee formed to focus on the Grand Strand bike rallies, the four member committee chose councilman Kevin Hardee as chair.
Public information officer Lisa Bourcier said the committee met Wednesday afternoon in a council meeting room at the Horry County Government and Justice Center.
No decisions were made, but committee members read through the 15 ordinances passed last week by Myrtle Beach council.
Myrtle Beach mayor John Rhodes and city manager Tom Leath were also at the meeting.
Bourcier said Mayor Rhodes asked the committee for any help it could offer the city, when it comes to trying to curtail the May rallies.
Bourcier said the committee will evaluate the county’s issues and do what’s best for the county.
At the next meeting, scheduled for October 14 at 5:00 p.m. in council chambers, public input will be welcome.
Bourcier said the committee will look at issues related to parking and parking lots, noise, vendor locations, and adult entertainment permits.
