Grand Strand Humane Society announces Doggie-Palooza

The Grand Strand Humane Society announces Doggie-Palooza, a special dog and cat adoption day on Saturday, August 15, 2009.

Due to the success of last month’s Cat-A-Palooza, The Grand Strand Humane Society is holding Doggie-Palooza, a special dog and cat adoption event at the shelter on Saturday, August 15 from 12:00pm-3:30pm. During Doggie-Palooza, there will not be a set adoption fee for adopting over 60 dogs and cats. The shelter is asking individuals for a donation of their choice in place of the set adoption fee. 

The shelter is overrun with both dogs and cats and is currently caring for double its capacity.

“Every cage and every run is full,” said Grand Strand Humane Society Executive Director Sandy Brown. “We have two dogs per kennel and two to three kittens in cages.”

Every individual interested in adopting an animal will have to go through the normal adoption process and be approved by one of the shelter’s adoption counselors. The main concern for the shelter is finding good, loving homes for the animals.

The shelter will have over 60 dogs and cats eligible for adopting with a donation during Doggie-Palooza. There are animals of all ages, sizes, breeds and colors. Dogs and cats will be spayed or neutered, have all of their shots and will be ready to go home that day. 

Shelter employees will be on hand during Doggie-Palooza grilling and selling hot dogs, chips and drinks to potential adopters.

Last month during Cat-A-Palooza, the shelter found loving homes for 47 cats and 4 dogs.

The Grand Strand Humane Society is located at 3241 Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach.

The Grand Strand Humane Society takes in animals brought in by the City of Myrtle Beach Animal Control as well as those brought into the shelter by members of the community. The Society is committed to providing excellent guest service to its visitors as well as the best care possible for the animals in the community.
