Funeral set for Carolina Forest student involved in incident with SRO

The funeral for the 16 year old Carolina Forest High School student who police said stabbed an Horry County School Resource Officer last week is set for Wednesday.
Trevor Varinecz died Oct. 16 after being shot by Carolina Forest High School SRO Marcus Rhodes after an altercation between the two in a school office.
Rhodes is currently recovering from the multiple stab wounds as SLED continues to investigate the incident.
Memorial services are scheduled at 2:30 p.m. at the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, at 606 Beaty St. in Conway.
Varinecz’s funeral will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m.
Rev. Kirk Lawton will officiate his funeral service.
Goldfinch’s website says the Varinecz family is asking for memorial donations to be made to the Autism Advocate Foundation at P.O. Box 7061, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
