According to a press release issued by Horry County Officials, Ronald Bessent has officially filed a protest with the Horry County Elections Commissions on Wednesday.

The petition concerns the Nov. 4 election where Bessent ran for the Horry County School District 9 Seat and lost to Republican challenger David E. Cox by 121 votes.

The lost was more than 1 percent and does not qualify under state law for a recount.

The Horry County Elections Commission will hold a protest hearing on Monday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. at the courthouse.
