Taylor’s life dream fulfilled as Lake City police officer
LAKE CITY — Being a police officer is a dream Timothy Taylor has had all of his life, and today that dream is a reality.
“I chose Lake City because it’s my hometown and I wanted to serve and protect the great citizens of the community,” Taylor said.
Lake City Police Chief Billy Brown said Taylor is a hard-working and dedicated police officer who is doing a great job protecting the citizens of Lake City.
Lake City Assistant Police Chief Bobby Williams said Taylor is young, energetic and a true asset to the Lake City Police Department. Williams said Taylor knows the surroundings and has adapted extremely well to his position.
Taylor has been a police officer in Lake City for seven months, and before that he served as a correctional officer with Turbeville Correctional Institute.
Taylor, a 2005 graduate of Lake City High School, is also a 2008 graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. While a student at Lake City High School, Taylor participated in football, wrestling and track, he said.
“When you put your mind to it, you can be anything you want to be,” Taylor said, explaining the advice he would give to aspiring police officers.
He said that one day he would like to become a police chief and that he considers Lake City Police Department Gang/Narcotics Investigator Joseph Cooper as a role model.
Taylor and his wife of three years, Renata, are the parents of 6-year-old Kayla, 2-year-old Madison and 4-month-old Timothy.
He describes himself as being laid-back but aggressive.
In his spare time, Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and kids as well as hunting and cooking, he said.
