Lamar blanks Hanna-Pamplico
PAMPLICO — Trevor Norris threw for a touchdown and caught one as well as the Silver Foxes improved to 7-1. Matthew Mitchell had a touchdown catch for Lamar, and Mason Ard recovered a fumble for H-P. Final score was 32-0 Lamar.

Former NBA Player Nutt Joins Coker Staff
Former NBA player and scout Dennis Nutt is joining Coker College Athletics as a fundraising consultant and assistant men’s basketball coach.

Nutt played professional basketball from 1986-1990 with the Dallas Mavericks and in the European Basketball Association and the Continental Basketball Association. Most recently, he was a college scout for the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and assistant men’s basketball coach at Coastal Carolina University.

Nutt resides in Myrtle Beach with his wife, Vicki, and their twin daughters, Macy and Myca.


St. Andrews Defeats Coker, 3-2
LAURINBURG, N.C. - Sophomore Heather Bolwerk (Appleton, Wis.) and senior Galina Podolsky (Raleigh) both recorded double-doubles while combining for 14 of the Knights 20 service aces as host St. Andrews Presbyterian College defeated Conference Carolinas rival Coker College 25-9, 18-25, 25-14, 24-26, 15-10 in a seesaw battle Wednesday night.
St. Andrews won its second straight match improving to 9-13 overall and 4-8 in the league. The Cobras suffer their 19th consecutive loss falling to 1-21 and 0-11.

Coker Volleyball Snaps 19 Match Losing Streak
Spartanburg, S.C. - The Coker volleyball snapped their 19 match losing streak on Friday night with a 3-1 win over Converse College in Conference Carolinas volleyball action. The Lady Cobras won the first set of the match 25-13, but Converse bounced back with a 25-20 win in the second set. Coker would not be out done winning sets three and four 25-22 and 25-17. The win marks the first conference win for the Lady Cobras this season. Coker won just one conference match last season as well, defeating Converse last season as well.

“The streak is over,“ said Coach Jon Stenman. “It has been a long time coming. The girls have fought hard all season and they finally came together as a team tonight and we got the win.“

The win improves the Lady Cobras to 2-21 overall, and 1-11 in the conference.

Leading the Coker offense was Kristin Teets (Columbia) with 13 kills, while Lisa Ross (Bowling Green, Ky.) had nine kills and April Griggs (Bishopville) had eight kills. Abbey Frame (Sylvania, Ohio) had a double-double 22 assists and 18 digs, with Molly Bookhart (Orangeburg) also netting a double-double with 15 assists and 15 digs. Cynallyhia Indriago (Columbia) also had 14 digs for the Lady Cobras.

Sweeney’s Goal Gives Cobras 1-0 Win
Wilson, N.C. - AJ Sweeney’s (Huntingtown, Md.) goal in the 69th minute of play gave Coker College a 1-0 victory over Barton College in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action. The win gives the Cobras their first season with double digit wins in more than 20 years, as they improve to 10-3-2 overall, and 4-3-1 in conference play.

Coker returns to action 4 p.m. on Saturday in their final regular season home match of the season against the Trojans of Anderson University.

Lady Cobras Fall to Barton
Wilson, N.C. - The Coker women’s soccer team lost to Barton College on Saturday night in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action 5-2. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 0-14 on the year and 0-9 in conference play, while the Lady Bulldogs improve to 3-10-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the conference.

Hilary Peterson led Barton with a pair of goals, while Morgan Bush and Dillon Sauls each added a goal and an assist. Anna Tressler netted a single goal and Brittany Bobbit had two assists.

For Coker, Bridget Clark (Columbia, S.C.) had a goal and an assist, while Sarah Kinsey (Windermere, Fla.) had goal and Sarah Rountree (Plantation, Fla.) had an assist.

The Lady Cobras return to the field 2 p.m. on Saturday for their final home match of the season against Anderson University.
