Scranton  delays ordinance approval

Scranton Town Council met on June 9 for its regular monthly meeting.
Council members decided before they have first reading on the Housing Element of the Florence County Comprehensive Plan, to have someone from the Florence County Planning office come to a town council meeting and explain it further.
The Florence County Comprehensive Plan is a vision document for the entire county and includes input from the public, businesses, municipalities and special interest groups, according to an information document supplied by the Florence County Planning Office.
Council approved the second reading on the plan’s Natural Resources Element.
The Natural Resources Element details the current environmental conditions of Florence County, the protection and sustainment of natural resources and goals for improving statics described, according to a staff report of the Florence County/Municipal Planning Commission.
In other business, Mayor Terry Knotts said the town recently got a new police car and will put an old police car out for bid.
Council approved for plans to be drawn for the construction of a handicap accessible bathroom behind Town Hall.
The next Scranton Town Council meeting will be July 7 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
