Rodeo bucks its way into Hemingway

HEMINGWAY—The County Line Arena in Hemingway welcomed two days of bull and bronco riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing fun earlier this month when the International Professional Rodeo Association came to town. Featuring a total pay off that exceeded $12,000, competitors from all over the country came to compete in a number of different rodeo events.
The event, which was spread out over two nights, took place under the stars in the open aired confines of County Line Arena. Those in attendance were treated to performances from top riders, wrestlers and ropers, all of who have been touring the country for the last year as part of the competitive rodeo circuit.
Winners from the Hemingway event included several competitors who were ranked in the top ten of the region, with wins in multiple categories coming from a few.
Tim Hensley took top honors in Bareback Bronco with Shawn Minor finishing second.
The Bull Riding standings were split between Michael Bodick and Jon Mastrangelo, Cody Holladay coming in third and William Shoun behind him.
Shawn Minor and Stacy Belt shared the Saddle Bronco category, Rodney Weese behind them with Jon Tyson and Daniel Kraft tying to round off the category.
In Tie-Down Roping, Clint Thomas won with a time of 10.9 seconds, Rocky Ausbrooks at 11.5, Brent Carlton, 11.8 and Glen Freels with 13.1.
Steer Wrestling went to Glen Freels, who was followed by Jason Bagwell, Rodney Weese and Cody Miller respectively.
Danielle Jones came out on top in Cowgirl Barrel Racing, Jessica Hopkins, Laura Kerley, Natalie Killian, Shelby Pattison and Lindsey Freels finishing it that order.
In Team Roping, the combination of Dustin Buchanan and Manny Cunde took home the top prize, Jimmy Tanner and Kaleb Driggers; Jason Tucker and Caleb Anderson; Jimmy Tanner and Manny Cunde fell in line as such. 
The IPRA makes stops throughout the Carolinas and most of the Southeast, including Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, and Arkansas. It all culminates at the finals, held at the Oklahoma City State Fair in January.
