Pee Dee Academy celebrated Homecoming Oct.9 during the football game against The Byrnes School from Florence.

Festivities began with the presentation of the Homecoming Court to the student body during first period, followed by the election of the Maid of Honor and Queen. Before the game the Alumni Association invited all former cheerleaders at PDA to join the spirit line for the team’s entrance. During halftime, the court was presented again with sponsors and their escorts entering the field on convertibles.

Caroline Shelley, the daughter of April and Danny Shelley, was crowned Homecoming Queen, and Catherine Bell, the daughter of Ann and Terry Doran and Jenny and William Bell, was named Maid of Honor. Caroline was crowned by the 2008 Homecoming Queen and King, Christen Bucy and Jed Hayes, with assistance from Little Miss Pee Dee Academy, Nicole Person.

The Homecoming Court included: Faith Baxley, sponsored by Matthew Snipes and escorted by Ward Baxley; Catherine Bell, sponsored by Satcher Bell and escorted by Chase Ankarstran; Lauren Grice, sponsored by Matthew Fisher and escorted by Weston Dean; Ashlee Loveless, sponsored by Will Richardson and escorted by Zachery Loveless; Caroline Shelley, sponsored by Bradley George and escorted by William Webster; and Haley Smith, sponsored by Zack Small and escorted by Bryant Wilson.

The Alumni Association was pleased to have many former PDA students in the crowd with over 120 registered. All alumni were invited to a reception in the canteen after the game.
