Randy Thomas Carter
Randy Thomas Carter of Lake City, 21, son of Ronnie and Betty Floyd Carter, died Sept. 28, 2008, at MUSC, Charleston after an illness.
A graveside service was Sept. 30 in the Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to: Grace & Glory Ministries Building Fund, P.O. Box 28, Scranton, 29591.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Walter Harris Carter, Sr. and Violette M. Carter and maternal grandparents, Rannie T. and Mary S. Floyd.
Born in Florence County, on June 15, 1987, Randy was a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Florence-Darlington Technical College. Randy attended Grace & Glory Ministries in Scranton.
Surviving are parents, Ronnie and Betty Floyd Carter of Lake City; a brother, Ronald D. Carter, Jr. of Florence; two uncles, Harris (Betty) Carter and Wayne (Janet) Floyd all of Lake City; two cousins, Becky Floyd of Lake City and Walter Harris “Skibo” (Jennifer) Carter of St. Stephens; best friend, Adam Culick of Lake City and Geraldine Lee of Lake City who was like a second mother to him.

Faye Thompson Curtis
Faye Thompson Curtis of Hemingway, 70, died Oct. 3, 2008 in Georgetown hospital.
A funeral was Oct. 5 in the Hemingway First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Born in Hemingway, Mrs. Curtis was a daughter of the late Marion Lester and Bonnie Cook Thompson. She was a receptionist for Amedisys of Georgetown, a devoted wife and mother, a member of the Hemingway First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Hemingway High School.
Surviving are husband, Tyson A. “Sonny” Curtis Jr. of the home; sons, Tyson A. (Caroline) Curtis III of Mt. Pleasant and Marion “Woody” (Marie) Curtis of Hemingway; sister, Beckie (George) Buxton of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Emily, Tyson A. Curtis IV, Paul Mason, Woody Pre’ot Curtis and Pierce Curtis.

William A. “Trey” Driggers III
William A. “Trey” Driggers III of Turbeville, 20, died Oct. 2, 2008 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
A funeral was Oct. 5 at the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Memorials be made to the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 233, Turbeville, 29162.
Born in Columbia, Trey was a son of William Allen Driggers Jr. and “Teri” L. Green O’Neal. Trey was a life long member of the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Forrest and Patricia Green and Maxie and Alberta Locklair; his paternal grandfather, William Allen Driggers Sr. and aunt, Bertie Green.
Surviving are parents; his step-father, Tony L. O’Neal; a sister, Tiffany O’Neal; a brother, Alex O’Neal; paternal grandmother, Julie Speer; maternal grandparents, Ed and Maxine Green; step-grandmother, Edna Jean O’Neal;  special friend and caretaker, Shelia Burroughs.

Janie Mae Poston Folk
Janie Mae Poston Folk, 77, widow of Dyson L. Folk, died Sept. 24, 2008 in a Conway hospital.
A funeral was Sept. 28 in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Conway. Burial followed in the Prosser Cemetery near Hannah.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 5025 Highway 378, Conway, 29527 or the Wildlife Action, Inc. PO box 866, Mullins, 29574.
Born in Hannah Community, Mrs. Folk was a daughter of the late Henry Luther and Ruby O’Dean Taylor Folk. She was a homemaker, member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and attended Hannah Schools.
She was predeceased by step-mother, Arlington Prosser Poston; daughter, Covett Folk and brother R. L. Poston.
Surviving are children, Fon (Rosemary) Folk of Conway and Scarlett Causey of Spartanburg; brothers, Deryl “Slick” (Marsha) Poston of Florence, Larry (Jean) Poston of Kingstree, Bobby (Aloma) Poston of Andrews, Harry (Viola) of Garner, N.C., Billy Poston and Kenny (Ellen) Poston both of Pamplico; sisters, Ann (Richard) Chan of Fairfield, CA, Linda (Randall) Calcutt of Johnsonville, Elaine (Tommy) Gardner of Pamplico; sister-in-law, Myrtle P. Hutchinson of Conway; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Faye Morris Matthews
Faye Morris Matthews of Turbeville, 75, died Sept. 28, 2008 at McLeod Hospice House after an illness.
A funeral was Sept. 30 in the Chapel of Floyd Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Howard; and two brothers, Ray Rembert Morris (her twin brother) and David Morris.
Born in Clarendon County, Mrs. Matthews was a daughter of the late Richard and Josephine Holiday Morris. She was a retired seamstress and member of the First Pentecostal Baptist Church of Florence. Mrs. Matthews was a loving and devoted wife to her husband David for over 31 years.
Surviving are husband, Junior David Matthews of the home; a sister, Ada Belle Morris of Sumter; and two brothers Richard Morris and Ralph Morris both of Sumter.

John M. McCutcheon Sr.
John Milton McCutcheon Sr. of Lake City, 71, died Sept. 30, 2008 in the Lake City Community Hospital after a long illness.
A funeral was Oct. 2 in the Lake City First Baptist Church.  Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janie M. Floyd.
Born in Scranton on April 22, 1937, Mr. McCutcheon was a son of the late Henry Eugene McCutcheon, Sr. and the late Frances Elma McCutcheon, and was married to Derryl Louisa Moore McCutcheon. Mr. McCutcheon was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Baptist Men’s Association and the Jefford’s Sunday School Class. 
Surviving are wife, Derryl Moore McCutcheon of the home; a daughter, Traci M. McCutcheon; a son, John (Daisy) McCutcheon, Jr.; two granddaughters, Saylor Jane and Emma Sage McCutcheon both of Lake City; four sisters, Betty M. Whitehead of Lake City, Frances M. Buddin and Janice (James) Guy both of Scranton, and Patsy (Jimmy) Brown of Beaufort and a brother, H.E. “Butch” McCutcheon of Florence.

Marvin “Marty” Legrand Poston
Marvin “Marty” Legrand Poston of Pamplico, 47, died Oct. 1, 2008 in a Florence hospital after a sudden illness.
A funeral was Oct. 4 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Prosser Cemetery.
Born in Florence, Mr. Poston was a son of Hoyt Legrand and Catherine Owens Poston. He was a truck driver and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents of the home; sisters, LaCheia P. Morris and Tammy P. McKenzie both of Pamplico; nieces and nephews, Travis Morris, Lindsey McKenzie, Brooke McKenzie and Jamison Yarborough and special friends, Donnie Edmonds, Jamie Yarborough and Billy Ball.

J. Kenneth Young
J. Kenneth Young of Lake City, 79, died Sept. 30, 2008.   
A funeral was Oct. 3 in the Coward Church of God. Burial followed in Newtown Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia and Cathy Young; and brother, Bishop Young.
Born in Olanta on Feb. 27, 1929, Mr. Young was a son of the late James N. Young and the late Retha Driggers Young. He was a member of Coward Church of God and was retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force.
Surviving are wife, Vendella Coker Young of the home; son, Rudy Young (Diane) of Florence; a daughter, Karen Miles (Ricky) of Lake City; 10 grandchildren, Ginger Pharand (Michelle) of Canada, Kenneth Howell and Dean Howell (Laura) both of Columbia, Lance Floyd of Lake City, Zack Floyd, Andrew Miles (Liza) and Charlotte Miles all of Lake City, Clifton Browder Jr., Stephannie Browder and Christy Browder all of Florence,; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Wilson (Cecil) of Summerton and Carolyn (Don) Price of Summerton; and two brothers, Roger Dale Young of Hannah and Murrell Young (Stella) of Olanta.
