PAMPLICO - It’s that time of year again - the time when high school graduates take the first step into the next chapter of their lives. It’s a new journey for many, as they venture out into the unknown in search of their future. A man once said, “If you want to know what the future holds, get in touch with the one who holds the future.“
At New Prospect Christian School, eight students graduated on Friday, May 29, knowing that their future is in God’s hands.

Kayla Linette Hankins, daughter of Michael and Kinda Hankins, received a Life Scholarship and graduated with high honors as salutatorian. Hankins plans to attend Francis Marion University and major in Political Science.

Thomas Randall Howell (Tommy), son of Traci Huggins and Randy Howell, graduated with honors and plans to attend Florence-Darlington Technical College and major in Business and Computer.

Rachal Victoria King, daughter of Jimmy and Rhonda King, graduated as valedictorian with high honors and received both a Life and a Fellowship Scholarship. Rachal plans to major in elementary education at Francis Marion University.

David Thomas Lee graduated with high honors.  He is the son of Tommy and Gay Lee and Mona Lee. David plans to further his education by majoring in history.

Chad Andrew Marlowe plans to enter into the work force and maybe further his education at a later date. He is the son of Larry and Nancy Marlowe.  Christopher Leroy Michau (Chris) is the son of Jimmy and Cheryl Dukes and Raymond Michau. Chris plans to attend Williamsburg/ Horry Tech.  He has not yet chosen his major.

Maegan Blair Powell is the daughter of Derrell and Donna Powell. Maegan graduated with high honors and plans to major in biology at Francis Marion University.

Melissa Lorraine Tyler plans to attend Horry Georgetown Tech and study to become an LPN.  She is the daughter of Clayton and Janice Tyler.

Juniors, Cory Roberts, Trent Gore, and Ryan Poston were the marshals for the graduation ceremony. Morgan Lanston provided the special singing. The senior class presented roses to family members during a special song after the presentation of diplomas.

The Rev. Lanney Ard was the special guest speaker for the night. He used scripture from Jeremiah 9 and Psalm chapters 115 and 29. “Even though the wisdom we obtain is crucial in our lives, may we always be mindful of what we have learned and how we can use it to glorify God,“

Ard told them. “Always listen to the voice of the Lord.“ Just before he read Psalm 29:3,“The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.“(KJV), thunder shook the sanctuary causing the lights to flicker.

“It seemed like God was giving His blessing,“ one family member said. The graduates were even more amazed as they opened the back doors to the pouring rain and looked up to find a huge rainbow stretched across the storm darkened sky. The graduates were commended for a job well done and a prayer for God’s blessings on their lives was given by one and all.
