To help raise money in the fight against Juvenile Diabetes, the Mullins Piggly Wiggly is sponsoring a “lock up” of community leaders from 1-3 p.m. at the store on U.S. Highway 76.

Mullins Mayor Pam Lee, Fire Chief Robert Stetson and others will be locked away in a make shift jail until donors can raise money for their release, Teresa Cox, store office manager said. For information about the event, call Cox at (843) 464-7271.

Additionally, the detainee that raises the most money during the event will receive “all the fixings for a steak dinner,“ compliments of the Mullins Piggly Wiggly, Cox said. Juvenile Diabetes research is supported as a charity company wide, she said, adding that the store and others in the Florence district of Piggly Wiggly stores supports the annual Juvenile Diabetes in Florence.
