On Oct. 23-24, the South Carolina High School Rodeo Association held a rodeo in McBee. A rainy Friday night didn’t deter contestants as they competed for points.

In barrels on Oct. 23, Taylor Sartain came in first in 16.813 seconds, Callie Martin in second in 17.136 seconds and Maggie Boyle in third in 17.292 seconds. On Oct. 24, Madeline Willis came in 1st in 16.597 seconds, Maggie Boyle in 2nd in 16.602 seconds and Morgan Campbell in third in 16.733 seconds.

In goat tying on Oct. 23, Taylor Sartain came in first in 11.145 seconds, Holland Sloan in second in 12.676 seconds and Maddison Ketter in third in 13.051 seconds. On Oct. 24, Sartain won again in 11.914 seconds, Chelsea Calvert came in second in 14.927 seconds and
Michela Shirley in third in 15.143 seconds.

In poles on Oct. 23, Morgan Starnes came in first in 22.295 seconds, Holland Sloan in second in 22.810 seconds and Pearce Sloan in third in 23.118 seconds. On Oct. 24, Callie Martin came in first in 21.478 seconds, Starnes dropped to second in 21.767 seconds and Mikki Gentry came in third in 22.415 seconds.

In calf roping, Reid Harrison led the way in 12.698 seconds followed by Jarret Nobles in 21.036 seconds. On Oct. 24, Cody Crim came in first in 23.828 seconds, Drake Marovich in second 23.938 seconds and Jarret Nobles in third in 24.489 seconds.

For the girls breakaway competition, only Sydney Lawson finished, earning first place points, in 4.386 seconds on Oct. 23. On Oct. 24, Lawson bested her time and finished first again in 4.068 seconds. Chelsea Calvert came in second in 5.799 seconds with Taylor Sartain in third in 19.708 seconds.

In team roping on Oct. 23, Reid Harrsion and Jarret Nobles came in first in 9.996 seconds followed by Brett Lawson and Drake Marovich in 12.754 seconds.

In bull riding, Ronnie Plyler scored 73 on Oct. 23. The next night Jamie Bruce took first place with a score of 65, and Wesley Johnson scored 60.
