Lillie Belle Turner
Marion – Mrs. Lillie Belle Turner, 89, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in McLeod Hospice House after an extended illness. Funeral Services were at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at Marion Church of God, burial followed at Palmetto Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Turner was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late John Walter Hodge and Emma Wallace Hodge. She was a homemaker and a member of the Marion Church of God.
Surviving are her sons, John Turner of Mullins, and Larry Turner of Dillon, a sister Clelon Lovin of Dillon, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Beverly Bryan Dozier Baxley

Beverly Bryan Dozier Baxley, 77, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC of complications from cancer.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 15th at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC with the Rev. Ken Timmerman officiating. The family will greet people immediately after the service in the parlor of the church. Burial will be at Olivet cemetery in Ariel’s Crossroads.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. William J. Baxley.
Beverly was born August 29, 1931 in Rains, SC, the daughter of Marvin Clifton Bryan and Ethelyn Chandler Bryan. She was a graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, SC. Beverly was the mother to four children: Bryan Dozier and wife Karen of Troy, NC, Win Dozier and wife Elizabeth of Troy, NC, King Dozier and wife Angela of Asheboro, NC and Aimee Dozier Norris and husband Rob of Charlotte, NC. Her brother, Chandler Bryan and wife Peggy, live in Statesville, NC.
She was also “BB” to ten grandchildren: Jackson and Barrett Dozier, Coleman, Mary Winston and Chandler Dozier, Griffin and Carlisle Dozier and Jack, Clay and Ben Norris. She loved and was loved.

Beatrice Larrimore
Britton’s Neck - Beatrice Larrimore, 72, of Spur Court died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Marion County Medical Center. She was born November 3, 1936, a daughter of the late Tom Mark Larrimore and Beulah Brown Larrimore.
She was also predeceased by her husband, Lonnie Larrimore.
Mrs. Larrimore was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Faye Jones (Harold) of Britton’s Neck; one son, Andy Larrimore of Britton’s Neck; five grandchildren, Rita Davis (Timmy), Jason Larrimore, Lavenia Jones, Angie Larrimore and Jennifer Larrimore; nine great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss her.
The family will receive friends at Piney Grove Baptist Church from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2009.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday June 6, 2009 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Montgomery and Rev. Paul Lambert officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Neck Cemetery.

Gregg Holt Caldwell
Marion – Gregg Holt Caldwell, son of Gregg Holt Caldwell, Sr. and Lena Henderson Caldwell died June 5, 2009.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence, and former member of Marion Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Treasurer, and Sunday School Superintendent.
He was a graduate of the University of Florida Ranger School and retired as a Forester and International Paper. He was a member of Pee Dee Chapter, Society of American Foresters, American Legion Post #5, former president of Marion Civitan Club, and former member of Davis Landing River Club. He served in WWII as Master Sgt. in 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion, 28th Infantry.
He is survived, by his wife, of 58 years, Daphne Rowe Caldwell, son, Greg Holt (Chip) Caldwell, Jr., (Paula), grandchildren, Allison and Rebecca, sisters, Dorothy C. Dark, Miriam Caldwell, Jean Caldwell, and Margaret Caldwell, all of Charlotte, N.C. He was predeceased by sisters, Caroline C. McKinney, Elizabeth C. Sheldon, and Sloan C. White.
Mr. Caldwell was a resident of the Presbyterian Home in Florence.
A memorial service was held on June7 at 5 p.m. in the Chapel at the Presbyterian Community.

Anna Margaret Rhames
Marion – Anna Margaret Rhames, died Monday, June 8, 2009 in McLeod Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Services were at 2 p.m. on June 11, at Little Bethel Baptist Church, burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home of Marion assisted the family.
Mrs. Rhames was born in Marion, a daughter of the late Edward Leroy Garrett and Flossie Mae Cribb Garrett. She is also predeceased by her brothers, James E. Garrett and Billy Wayne Garrett. Mrs. Rhames was a homemaker and member of Little Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Carl M. Rhames, of the home, daughters, Connie L. Grice of Conway, Vicky Pridemore and husband, James, of Marion, and Miss Deanna L. Rhames of Marion, sisters, Sarah F. Ammons of Florence, Helen Joan Turner of Dillon, and Nancy L. Cox of Florence; grandchildren, Jessica L. Clark of Marion, John M. Moyd of Marion, and Brandon C. Grice of Mullins, great-grandchildren, Johnathon A. Clark and Jacob C. Clark both of Marion.
JohnnyLee Simmons
Tuskegee, Alabama – JohnnyLee Levon Simmons, 27, died on Tuesday, 2 June 2009 at Tuskegee, Alabama. A native of Georgetown, he was the son of JohnnyLee Simmons of Brooklyn, and Katie Ruth Stevenson Simmons of Orangeburg. At an early age, he was baptized at St. Paul AME Church at Covington, Georgia. He was a 2000 graduate of Marion High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team, Mu Alpha Theta National Math Club, the band, Junior ROTC, and the Marion County 4-H Club. He was a mechanical engineering student at Tuskegee University. He is survived by his brothers: Raymond Anderson of Lemoore, CA; Diego Anderson of Charlottesville, VA; and his sisters: Burma Anderson of Columbia; Katie Anderson of Philadelphia; and Segi Simmons of Orangeburg. A funeral was directed by Jackson & McGill on Saturday, 6 June 2009 at St. James AME Church, with Pastor Georgeann T. Pringle officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Florrie Bell Canteen
Marion – Florrie Bell Jenkins Canteen was born in Georgetown on 13 October 1927 to the late Mary Bell Green. She was a longtime member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, where a funeral was directed by Jackson & McGill on Sunday, 7 June 2009, with Pastor Henry McGill, Jr. officiating. Interment was at Devotion Gardens. She was married the late Levi Canteen, and they were the parents of Leverne Canteen of Chicago.
