Lady Foxes find their rhythm
The Hartsville Lady Red Foxes volleyball team got its rhythm back last week in a series of wins starting with a double header on Sept. 14 against Darlington and Lakewood. The ladies easily finished the Lady Falcons in two sets, 25-12 and 25-7. Fortunes continued to shine for the Red Foxes as they beat Lakewood 25-9 and 25-8.
On Sept. 15, the team hit the road to play Conway and won three of four games, 25-16, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-15, to make the Red Foxes’ overall team record 5-1.
A tough road was ahead of the Lady Foxes during Wednesday’s game against the West Florence Lady Knights.
“We had to fight hard to come back and win. The Lady Foxes did not give up at all and played their hardest until the very last match,” said Coach Amber Ortolano.
West Florence had a five to seven point lead at the start of every game.
“We didn’t play very well in the first two games and that second loss must have lit a fire under the girls,” said Ortolano. “They came back strong to win three games in a row to take the win from West Florence.”
The final scores were 28-30, 14-25, 25-23, 29-27 and 15-12, which brought the Lady Foxes overall team record to 6-1 and region record to 2-0.
