Hartsville swim teams finish third and fourth
The Hartsville High School girls swim team scored third out of the seven competing teams during Wednesday’s meet at the Hartsville YMCA. The boys swim team scored fourth out of seven. Visiting teams included Sumter, South Florence, West Florence, Wilson, and Trinity.
The girls 200-yard medley relay team composed of Julia Crabtree, Madison Hassler, Olivia Crabtree, and Inicia Harris took first place. These same swimmers also took third in the 200-free relay with a time of 2:00.72, only 1.48 seconds away from state meet qualifying consideration.
Olivia Crabtree won first place in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 100-yard backstroke. Inicia Harris placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle. Madison Hassler was fourth in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. Julia Crabtree took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:22.32, only 0.13 seconds away from state meet qualifying consideration. Julia also was fifth in the 200-yard individual medley.
The boys 400 Freestyle Relay team of Connor Ward, Sam Dupree, Raleigh Smith and Tyler Jackson took first place. The boys 200-freestyle relay team of Brock Fletcher, Matthew Haynes, Ben Dupree and Frantin Cooper took fifth place.
Dupree took more than 10 seconds off his 200-yard freestyle time and won third place in the 100-yard freestyle. Jackson took fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 100-yard butterfly. Marcus Edwards took more than 8 seconds off his 50-yard freestyle time. Connor Ward took second place in the 500-yard Freestyle, taking more than 11 seconds off his time. Ward also took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. Cooper placed sixth in 100-yard breaststroke.
The next swim meet will be held 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in Lancaster.
