Johnsonville police to hold fundraiser

Johnsonville Police Department will have their annual Equipment Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 30. Chicken Pileau plates will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Johnsonville Rescue Squad for $5 each. Patrons may eat in or we will have an express carry out line. Hemingway worship center will have fundraiser

El Chapman Worship Center in Hemingway will have a fundraiser to raise money to support the building fund on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. A Bingo game will be held for prizes, games and prizes for the kids will also be given. Any contributions are greatly appreciated. The event will be held in the fellowship hall. All donations need to be in by Thursday, Nov. 5.

Waccamaw free directory requesting update

The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is updating its printed resource directory. The directory, which is offered free of charge to area residents, is a valuable tool for obtaining information for local agencies and organizations providing services to seniors, caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, health and legal professionals, social service providers, librarians and researchers as well as older people and their families. Those looking to be included in the directory or update their current information should call 843-436-6144, free of charge. Deadline is Dec. 31, 2009.

Hemingway First Pentecostal to host homecoming

Hemingway First Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold their 70th anniversary party and homecoming celebrations Sunday, Nov. 1. The guest speaker will be Jimmy McKenzie, Bishop of the South Carolina Conerence. Festivities will get underway with Sunday school at 10:00a.m. followed by worship service at 10:50a.m. Dinner will be served on the grounds following the service. All are welcome to attend.

Outland homecoming coming soon

The Outland Church of God in Hemingway will be holding homecoming festivities Nov. 8, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The event will feature a special performance from the Singing Shireys gospel group. Food and fellowship will follow. Outland’s pastor is the Rev. Ronald Newton. All are welcome to attend. For more information call 843-558-7151

Olanta Christmas parade date set

The Olanta Beautification Committee will sponsor a Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony, Saturday, December 19th . The Parade will begin at 3:30 with the tree lighting to follow. Kingstree library to resume Saturday hours

The Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree will be opening back up on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. starting on Saturday, November 7, 2009.

Government information meeting scheduled

The Kingstree-Lake City Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will be sponsoring a Town Hall Meeting for all area elected officials Monday, Nov. 9 at 6:00p.m. Officials are invited to share information with citizens of the surrounding area on the economy, education and healthcare. The group plans to give citizens an opportunity to ask questions during the meeting. All are invited and refreshments will be served.
