Stacye Drose has been named Marion School District One Pee Dee International Reading Association Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.  Drose was chosen from among three school nominees by a district panel of judges.

Drose teaches special needs students at Marion Intermediate School and represents excellence in literacy instruction.

Drose will represent the district at the regional competition in late October.  “I believe that all students are capable of learning how to read. The key to success is directly related to their self-confidence in reading. When students feel successful, they are motivated to read more, and therefore, develop a love for reading,” Drose said.

Other school level winners include:  Rhonda Shelley- Easterling Primary School; and Candace Huggins- Johnakin Middle School.
