Deputies seek men in robbery of Pat’s Groceries

Florence County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed robbery during which two men stole a purse from a victim and an undisclosed amount of cash from a store near Scranton.

The incident took place about 8:18 p.m. Tuesday at Pat’s Groceries, at 1046 E. Myrtle Beach Highway.

Two armed men entered the store, ordered three occupants to the floor, and stole the pocketbook and the cash, according to the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses said one subject was a black man weighing about 250 pounds, wearing a black toboggan and carrying a shotgun. The other is described as a black man with a slim build, and he was wearing a dark-color ski mask and carrying a handgun.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identities of the subjects is asked to call the Florence County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 665-2121, ext. 434, or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (866) 369-8477 (TIPS).  Callers do not have to reveal their identities.

The police hang out there all the time. It’s hard to believe someone could be so stupid as to rob the place.
