WTC registration
Begin 2009 by registering for spring semester at Williamsburg Technical College. Registration will be held Monday through Jan. 15. Course schedule information is available at http://www.wiltech.edu or by visiting the College.
Williamsburg Technical College will hold late registration Monday-Jan. 15.
Students may register for classes between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon and again from 5 to 6 p.m.
Washington Youth-Tour
High school juniors are eligible to apply for a spot on the Washington Youth-Tour, an all-expenses-paid, five-day visit to the nation’s capital.
Santee Electric Cooperative will again sponsor two delegates for the 2009 Washington Youth Tour, scheduled for June 11-18.
Applicants will be required to submit an application, letters of reference and be interviewed by a panel of judges.
Winners also will be eligible to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship that will be awarded to one South Carolina tour participant. The scholarship will be based on the student’s essay, interview and performance during the tour.
Santee Electric Cooperative has sponsored students on the youth tour for more than 20 years. About 1,400 youth tour participants from 39 states will meet in Washington, D.C., for this tour, which has been conducted for more than 40 years.

Budget cuts
Because of budget constraints, the Lake City office of Circle Park Behavioral Health Services at 159 N. Church St. will no longer be open on Fridays effective Jan. 16.
Circle Park’s Lake City office has been serving the Lake City community since its opening in June 2000, and will continue to provide a broad range of top quality behavioral health services at the Lake City office during the hours of Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For details, call Bill Gilmer (843) 665-9349.
Traveling exhibit
The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office announced that 40 United States public libraries will host “Visions of the Universe: Four Centuries of Discovery,” a traveling exhi-bition developed in cooperation with the Space Telescope Science Institute Office of Public Out-reach and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory to mark the International Year of Astronomy in 2009.
The exhibit will be on display at the Drs. Bruce & Lee Foundation Library on Jan. 21 through March 27.

FMU registration
Students will begin spring semester classes at Francis Marion University on Tuesday. Registration for new and continuing students will be held Monday. Housing opens for new and continuing students Sunday.
A list of open classes is available on the university’s web site at http://www.fmarion.edu or through the Admissions Office in Stokes Administration Building Room 113. The semester runs through April 27, followed by final exams, and commencement May 9.

Art’s Alive Art Show
The 32nd-annual Art’s Alive Festival, and the art show, will be held on Saturday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The art show will be juried; with cash awards of $600, $300 and $150 awarded to first, second and third places, respectively.

Week of Young Child
The Week of The Young Child Parade will be in April 2009. We are looking for any group, organization, daycares, and pastors to be in the parade.
