Golf
Coker senior Chris Marsh (Georgetown) fired a five under par 66, capturing the medalist honors at the 2009 Coker College Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Marsh’s two round total of 136 (-6) led the Cobras to a first place team finish with a two round total of 574 (+6). Following the Cobras were Erskine College at 613 (+45) in second place and USC-Lancaster at 617 (+49) in third place at the par 71 Hartsville Country Club.

Following Marsh was fellow Cobra John LaDow (Pottstown, Pa.) in second, shooting an even par 142 in the tournament. Taylor Banks of USC-Lancaster and Dean Hester of South Carolina tied for third at 145 (+3).

Rounding out the field of teams were Wingate University, Lees-McRae College, Fayetteville State and Paine College.

This marks the final fall tournament for the Cobras. Now they will begin to prepare for their spring season on competition starting in February.

Women’s Soccer
The Pfeiffer University Falcons held the Coker Lady Cobras scoreless on Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action, winning 6-0. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 0-13 on the year and 0-7 in conference play, while Pfeiffer improves to 8-3-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the conference.

Coker returns to action 2 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Wilson, N.C., to face the Barton Bulldogs.

Men’s Soccer
A single goal by Alex Landim was all the offense the Pfeiffer Falcons would need in their 1-0 win over the Coker Cobras in Conference Carolinas men’s collegiate soccer Tuesday night. The regionally ranked #6 Falcons improve to 10-3 overall, and 6-1 in the conference, while the regionally ranked #9 Cobras fall to 9-3-2 overall, and 3-3-1 in the conference.

It was a very physical game with 34 total fouls and eight cards issued during the game.

Coker returns to action 4 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Barton College.

Men’s Basketball

Join the Coker Men’s Basketball team on Nov. 8 as they face the University of Pittsburgh Panthers in an exhibition game at Pittsburgh. The Cobras will take on last year’s NCAA Elite Eight Panthers at 4 p.m. and you can be a part of the action! Hop on the Cobra fan bus and travel from Coker College on Nov. 7 and stay overnight in Pittsburgh before the big game.

Trip includes motor coach transportation to and from Pittsburgh, one night accommodations, Sunday brunch with the team and a ticket to the game.
