Pleasant Grove Clothing Store reopens
The Hospitality Ministry of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church has reopened the Pleasant Grove Clothing Store. The store is open on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m.
Food bank, clothing bank open to public
The St. James AME Church, (Ariel Crossroad) at 5333 South Highway 41, Marion opens its Food Bank from 2-6 p.m. every third Thursday in the month. Consumers are required to fill out an application at the initial visit. Call the Rev. Georgeann Pringle for information at (803) 817-4428, (843) 688-4072 or (843) 423-3832. Church to have intercessory prayer
Effingham Missionary Baptist Church of Mullins will have intercessory prayer every Tuesday at 7 p.m. everyone in invited, so come out on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and join us in prayer.
Rotary club seeking participants from program
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is seeking young professionals and business people who are interested in participating in an all-expense paid trip to the Parana state in southern Brazil.
The region, which borders on Paraguay and Argentina is a major business, agricultural and tourism center. This trip is part of the Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange, which is a unique cultural and vocational program for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40.
GSE team members can’t be Rotarians or an immediate relative of a Rotarian.
Applications to participate in the program are due by Oct. 3. Interviews to select members will be held in September.
The trip to Brazil is scheduled from May 22, 2010 to June 20, 2010.

Marion County First Steps to sponsor childcare training
On Sept. 26 Janice Peterson will conduct childcare training entitled Laughter and Silly Songs at Pleasant Grove Academy located at 1333 Penderboro Road in Marion. There will be a registration fee. For more information contact Reeshemah Harrison at 934-230-3742.
