MARGARET BAREFOOT PARNELL
Funeral services for Margaret Barefoot Parnell, 86, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Homer Hinson and Mrs. Peggy Hinson officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parnell was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Roxie Perdue Barefoot. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Don (Jean) Parnell of Hartsville; brothers, James Howard Barefoot of Ruby, Carroll B. (Barbara) Barefoot of Hartsville; several nieces and nephews.
RANDALL L. DAVIS
Services for Randall L. Davis, 59, were held on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with the Rev. Chadwick Tyler Teal officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery.
Randall died on Wednesday, Aug. 13. He was born in Hartsville, the son of the late William Monroe and Mary Mazalee Atkinson Davis. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are sons, Gregory L. Davis of Florence, Bradley Davis of Gastonia, N.C.; daughter, Melissa S. Davis Ellington of Columbia; sisters, Mary Mazalee Morrison of Myrtle Beach, Sarah Elizabeth Doughty of Hartsville, Linda Darlene Plummer of Gastonia, N.C., Janice Marie Teal of Covington, Ga., Martha Kay Phillips of Overland Park, Kan.; brothers, Charles Monroe Davis of Florence, Samuel Stephen Davis of Greenville; two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, William Jordan.
ROBERT McINTOSH
Graveside services for Robert Murray McIntosh, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. p.m. today, Aug. 20, 2008, at Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Martin will officiate, and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. McIntosh died Sunday, Aug. 17. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Thomas James and Elizabeth Newsom McIntosh. He was a graduate of Bishop-ville High School, the University of South Caro-lina and the University of South Carolina School of Law, served in the U. S. Army JAG Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the South Carolina Bar Association.
Surviving are his sister, Olive McIntosh Toy of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Marion Roberts McIntosh of Asheboro, N.C.; six nieces and nephews.
CONNIE CONITS
Connie Conits, 40, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008. She had a loving smile that would lighten up an entire room.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Speros and Evangeline Alexiou Conits.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Spiri-doula “Stephie” and John Blackstone of Taylors; two nieces, Anastasia and Evangelea Blackstone; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral service will be held today, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow in Wood-lawn Memorial Park.

Funeral services for Donnie Davis, 66, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John C. Smith officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Church of God Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis, widower of Euna Mae Steen Davis, died Thursday, Aug. 14. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Jack and Maude Davis.
Surviving are his sons (spouse), Leroy (Bonnie) Gainey of Hartsville, Gene Gainey of Salisbury, N.C., J. C. (Norma) Buff of Lugoff, Travis (Georgia) Walker of Cheraw; daughter, Elsie Johnson of Hartsville; brother, Jerry Davis of Hartsville; grandchildren, Tammy Austin, Debbie Crowley, Joseph Gainey, Jonathan Gainey, Lisa Gainey, Dallas Gainey, India Walker; six great-grandchildren.
DONNELL DUKES
HACKENSACK, N.J. - Donnell Dukes, formerly of Lamar, died on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his residence after an illness. Local arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home Inc. of Lamar. Mr. Dukes is the cousin of Josephine Simmons of the Syracuse community and Doris Byrd of Lamar.
ANNIE SUE JORDAN
LAMAR - Funeral services for Annie Sue Howell Jordan, 75, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Mt. Elon Baptist Church with the Revs. Marvin Lynch, Robbin King and Gary Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Elon Baptist Church, Box 38, Lydia, SC 29079.
Mrs. Jordan died Friday, Aug. 15. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Luther W. and Mamie Taylor Howell. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church and the A. Josey Sunday School Class. She retired from Mr. B’s restaurant in Lydia.

Mrs. Gainey, widow of James Hubert Gainey Sr., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late William McIver and Adlay White Andrews. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

CHARLES ELLIS
Graveside services for Charles W. Ellis, 83, were held at 2p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at New Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Pierce and Kenny Lynch officiating, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Mr. Ellis died Wednes-day, Aug. 13, 2008. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Ralph M. and Frances Moore Ellis. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of The Citadel. He retired from Dow Chemical as a chemist and taught at Greenville Technical College.
Surviving are his sisters, Kathryn King of Hartsville, Joanne Alborg of Isle Of Palms, Marian Ellis of Hartsville; caregiver, Brenda Floyd.
CAMPBELL McLEOD
McBEE - Funeral services for Alexander Campbell McLeod Sr., 78, were held at 11a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at McBee Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike Allen officiating. Burial followed in McBee Cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home served the McLeod family. Memorials may be made to the Annie S. McLeod Scholarship Fund, C/O McBee Presbyterian Church, PO Box 570, McBee, SC 29101.
Mr. McLeod died Thursday, Aug. 14. Born in McBee, he was a son of the late Cary S. and Annie Spaugh McLeod. He was a member and deacon of McBee Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Clemson University in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. He was a third generation owner and operator of McLeod Farms Inc., where he developed the “Cary Mac” peach variety. He was a member of the Fruit and Labor Committee of the South Carolina Farm Bureau, the Chesterfield County Soil & Water Conservation Board, S.C. Peach Council and the Chesterfield County Farm Bureau Board. He was a member of the Business & Professionals Club. He was an active leader in establishing the McBee Boy Scout Hut and recreational facilities. He loved God, his family, his church and his town.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Butler McLeod of McBee; son and daughter-in-law, Alexander Campbell “Kemp” and Gaie C.
