With a theme of Memories of World War II, Southside Middle School in Florence presents Swingin’ with Seniors 2009.
According to a press release from Florence School District one, senior citizens are cordially invited for lunch and a morning of entertainment on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the school. Individuals and groups are invited, and gymnasium doors will open at 9:00 a.m.
Entertainment for the morning will be provided by the Southside Music Department and the Southside Step Team. Door prizes will be distributed throughout the program. Lunch will be served from 11:00 until noon. Health screenings will also be provided by Carolinas Hospital System, Senior Circle and community outreach from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Southside Middle School teacher and organizer of Swingin’ with Seniors”, Sandra Brewer said seniors who plan to attend should RSVP by contacting the school office at 664-8467 before April 21, 2009, noting that the school will be closed during the week of April 13th for Spring Break.
Brewer said callers should give the school secretary an accurate number of individuals who will be attending or the number of people in the group who will be attending on April 29th. “An accurate count is extremely important,” said Brewer. “This year we are limited to 500 RSVP’s”.
Swingin’ with Seniors 2009, is funded this year by a We Remember grant, Southside Baptist Church, Lambs Chapel, Tommy’s Wholesale Florist, Senior Circle of Carolinas Hospital System, and Dixie Cup. “We are also grateful for other community groups that will be providing door prizes and assisting with this event,” said Brewer.
