Progress Energy recently gave $1,000 to Williamsburg Technical College for the 2009-10 Progress Energy Scholarship as well as a $250 math contest contribution.

Once a scholarship recipient is named, the Progress Energy Scholarship funds will be distributed to the recipient in two payments, $500 for fall semester and $500 spring semester.

A special scholarship awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 11. The math contest portion of the donation will be used to help fund the annual high school math contest, in which local high school math teams compete on the college’s campus. The next contest is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 12.
