Miss Darlington Pageant Saturday
The Miss Darlington Scholarship Pageant committee presents “To Darlington with Love” this Saturday at the St. John’s Elementary School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
The show will feature Miss Darlington 2009 and top 10 semi-finalists at Miss South Carolina Terrilyn Stephens, 2006 Carolina Idol winner Brandy Morrell, Desiree Puglia, Jamie Cranford, Brittany Caldwell, the Brenda Cranford School of Dance, Merideth Watford and Will Isgett.
Miss Darlington 2010 will receive a $500 scholarship and a prize package. Miss Darlington Teen 2010 will receive a $100 savings bond and a prize package. Both winners will walk away with more than $1,500 in prizes from local and state businesses.
Both queens will represent Darlington in the 2010 Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen pageants held next July in Spartanburg.
Miss Darlington contestants include Sarah-Frances Parker, University of South Carolina student, performing a lyrical dance; Madison Privette, Florence-Darlington Technical College student, performing a vocal selection; Bethany Johnson, Darlington High School student, performing sign language; Whitney Brooks, Francis Marion University student, performing a lyrical dance; Heather Tyndall, Coker College student, performing a clogging routine; and Morgan Smoak, College of Charleston graduate, performing a clogging routine.
Miss Darlington Teen contestants include Charity O’Neal, Trinity Collegiate School student, presenting a piano performance; Brittany Reilly, Darlington High student, performing a vocal selection; Caroline Byrd, the Byrnes Schools student, performing a tap dance; Amber Niki Martin, Hartsville High student, performing a lyrical dance for her talent; and Brooke Powers, Lexington High student, performing a vocal selection.
