Nominations sought for Girls Scouts award

Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina is seeking nominations for 2010 Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction awards.

Women can be nominated in any of the following categories: government; businesses/industry; medicine; community service; nonprofit; philanthropy; media; education; and the arts. Nominees should exemplify the multidimensional role women play in society and reside within Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Williamsburg, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Colleton Dorchester and Orangeburg counties. A separate nomination form should be submitted for each nominee.

“This is an opportunity for the community to get involved in the nomination process,” Jane Brandt, Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction co-chairwoman, said in a press release. They can help to identify women who make an impact on our community and who have demonstrated significant achievement in their professional and personal lives while serving as a strong role model for today’s girls.”

The 2010 Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction will be honored March 12 at Darlington Country Club. Nominations forms are available online at http://www.girlscoutsesc.org or by calling Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina at (843) 669-5174 or (800) 786-8704. The deadline is Dec. 7.
