In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Carolinas Hospital System will be sponsoring a free screening.  It will be held Tuesday, October 28, in Central Registration directly off the hospital’s main lobby from 6 – 8 pm.  Several doctors will be volunteering their time to perform the exams.

The American Cancer Society reports that, age is a woman’s single most important risk factor for developing breast cancer.  This year alone, an estimated 182,460 new cases of breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed and approximately 40,480 women will die from the disease. It is estimated that South Carolina will have 2,510 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed and 620 breast cancer mortalities. *

The best way to fight this disease is through early detection and treatment.  To register or for more information, please call at 674-2614.  Because space is limited, pre-registration is required.
