How to see if you?ve really grown up yet
Published: April 13, 2008
Hello, everyone, welcome back to another episode of Cecil’s World in Print. We have a lot of fun with this column because we talk about everything and anything that comes to mind. People are always sending me funny e-mails about different things.
Here is something else I thought was very interesting. I found this on the Internet: the top 25 signs that you have finally grown up. Here are a few of them:
Jeans and a sweater no longer qualify as “dressed up.”
This one is so true for us older people: You used to watch movies on television, but now you watch The Weather Channel.
Here is one some of you can relate to: You now keep more food in the fridge than beer.
Finally, this is one of my favorites: You feed your dog Science Diet instead of leftover pizza and burgers. I have been there and done that.
How many of you love to read? My wife reads all the time. I don’t read as much as she does, but I bought a neat book a few weeks ago, and I wanted to pass it along to you.
It’s a book that has everything in it, from the weather forecasts for farmers to what was the most popular television show of all times. It’s The World Almanac, an amazing book that can give you facts and figures about everything. So, the next time you can’t find what you’re looking for on the Internet, just reach for an old-fashioned copy of the almanac, the No. 1 New York Times bestseller. I use my almanac for everything.
Here is a trivia question for all you cowboy fans: Everybody loves a good John Wayne movie, but did you know that John Wayne was not the Duke’s real name? OK, his real name was Marion Michael Morrison. Not exactly a tough-sounding cowboy name. I can see why they changed it.
That’s it for another Cecil’s World in Print. I’ll see you next week right here in The Morning News and on the tube.
